Always wanted a 35 Whelen
Found this one on sale for 289 at local gun shop today.

I have the CVA scout in 44 mag and it quite accurate figured for the price it was worth buying it from my experience with that rifle

I have been thinking I should try a CVA single shot in a straight wall cartridge maybe 350 legend

biggest complaint I"ve heard about the CVA is the base screws coming loose they don't clean the cutting oils out of the threads good enough first thing I done to the 44 mag was pulled the base off and hit the srew holes with a degreaser and torqued with 243 that rifle has been a excellent shooter.

A guy came into the gun shop and asked if I could work up loads for his 35 Whelen. I looked up what old Townsend himself used. Smart man, he. IIRC, it was a near casefull of 4064 and a 250-gr bullet. Only took one range visit to confirm.

A guy came into the gun shop and asked if I could work up loads for his 35 Whelen. I looked up what old Townsend himself used. Smart man, he. IIRC, it was a near casefull of 4064 and a 250-gr bullet. Only took one range visit to confirm.
4064 is a true Old Reliable. Hornady broke my heart when they dropped the 250gr round nose.

Didn't get a letter, bought mine used and abused. Cleaned up good and shoots 225 and 250 grain bullets great. It's overkill for deer but I like it.

In '02 I was brokering an estate that included a 35 Whelen 7600 with a Leopold scope. A friend/customer committed to $500 but then backed out. No one else was interested so I bought it. I've thought of selling it, but until recently prices haven't been there and vary. Besides, I may want to use it one day.

mine is in 350 legend and I got it off of GB so with the shipping and transfer fee it cost a little more than yours, I put a older leupold VariX 1 3x9 on it , only have had time to put a few Win. white box and Browning BXR 155 gr. thru it so far but it looks very promising

I built a .35 Whelen on a 1917 Erfurt small ring 98 Mauser. That was back in the day when almost any 98 sold for $25 or less (1903 Springfields were $35!). It wears a Balfor scope and Buehler Micro-dial mount. Then,about 30 years ago at a live auction, I bought a Remington 30 carbine that had been re-bored to .35 Whelen. It had a Redfield receiver sight on it. Those old 30's still had clip slots on 'em yet so you could load .35 Whelens with stripper clips!
