    To estimate a bear's size from its tracks, you can measure the width of the front paw pad and add one to it. For example, a track that's four inches wide would indicate a bear with a square of five feet. However, this method can be less accurate for larger bears

    I would guess about 300 lbs. Had he been down at the lake?

    It went down into a gully that leads to the lake but I'm thinking it may have gone up the other side. That property has several old single wide trailers it could den-up underneath. I'm not curious enough to go looking.

    forgemonkey The front pad was 3" wide so that would relate to 4 sq ft. The stride was in the middle at 23". I guess that it's a medium size, close to jimdeere 300 lbs.
