just watched my son walk the stage......
and received his doctorate. I just wish my dad was their, he told my mom right before he died he hoped he lived long enough to see his kids graduate. He died 2 weeks after I graduated high school. He would have been so proud to see his grandson get his PHD as he only went to the 5th grade himself and always admired/respected folks with education. I never felt the urge and went in the marines out of school, but I would rather nowadays see my son teaching college math……..

Son was in Engineering School at Buffalo. On rugby team and too many girls/beer. Grades slipped and they told him he could stay but kicked him out of engineering. Sat out for six months and made two trips to see Dean of Engineering at West Virginia University who finally took him in.
Off to slow start and I went down and fixed his car, got in his face and told him he needed to get his act together. He graduated in top of his class. Kids are great.—————-Ray

Well done to your son, and well done to you for raising a boy to have some grit, determination, and ambition! It's rare these days.

I got my doctorate in 2001 and it is not easy to get so it is a great accomplishment for him.
