How much did the "Identify Friend or Foe" system cost us? "Oooops, my bad" doesn't make things better when you have a rack full of bombs.

    Glad the pilots are OK

as for the multi million dollar + plane it's only tax dolars at work

Sad so much went wrong and could have been worse

Unfortunately in the fog of war or battle there is always going to be that chance of friendly fire killing some of your own people, it has always been that way and will never be totally eliminated. The pilots are lucky to have survived.

The Houthis of Yemen claim they shot it down. The Houthis wouldn't lie to us, would they?

The US government wouldn't lie to us, would they?

Did the Houthi's have one of their buck-tooth goat rapers out there in a rubber raft with a MANPAD?

The US Navy will figure out what happened, but we won't hear all the details, for security reasons.

Bottom line: Somebody and/or something effed up.

Keelhauling was a horrible way to go…

    Sounds like BS diversion coverup.

The bad guys did it, and the outgoing traitors do not want to deal with it, so they are making it the new guys (DJT) problem.

Kind of like the rest of the " scorched earth " policy that looks to be going on for the next 4 weeks.

That's illogical. Under a scorched earth tactic, they'd blame it on the Houthis as an excuse for widening the conflict and dump that in the new admin's lap.

While certainly a mistake that should not happen, I will say this…..my Navy brothers and sisters have been doing a terrific job downing everything the stinking Houthis are throwing their way. Missiles move FAST, and decision space is minimal to launch countermeasures. In that environment, making no decision or a delayed decision could very well cost you the ship.

Ultimately, I am just glad the pilots made it out okay. Planes are replaceable. THEY are not.

smells fishy to me. Maybe I'm wrong but thought those planes had some sort of ID or beacon that OUR missiles would recognize and abort before impact. ?

They have IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) radar return devices, yes. But they do not interact with missiles. I have seen several reports that I cannot vouch for and so will not repeat except to say it was a giant "effup" by the Gettysburg.
