Never really heard of and have not looked into it.

What is its intended purpose? What does it cover and not?

Liability coverage for concealed carry holders that use a firearm to protect themselves. Covers legal fees after the fact.

I have seen tons of commercials and sponsers on the you tube gun channels

JMHO I feel no need for it here in Ohio stand your ground is now the law after 67 years or 50 of thoes carrying a gun started in the not allowed pre permit take a chance years

I was glad I had a gun with us but by the grace of God or karma I never had to show or use it but conforting to know it was with me and hope it stays that way

    with that said

I can some what understand if I lived in a blue state who love to go after legal gun owners even when protecting them self I would look into it more

    Have no idea about cost

I would suggest doing some searching and invegastion on which company is best at helping and fighting for you if needed

I will check back to see if anyone on here has any experience or carry the insurance

I have a membership in a group established by lawyers that will help in a situation should I find I ever have to use a firearm in self defense. I pay a yearly fee between 1 and 2 hundred dollars annually. They started in Texas around 10 years ago or so and are now nationwide. Not liability insurance, but prepaid legal defense available 24x7x365.

You have to research the individual company! MOST have a clause that IF you are charged with a crime, they drop your converage immediately. Then IF you win, they may reimburse you. Not gonna help at all if you need help to fight in court!

I'm 71 years old. By the time the trial is over, I'll probably be dead. Life in prison, three hots and a cot, may be a blessing.

I live in Illinois. If three people attacked me all at once with guns blazing, and I shoot one and kill him, I’ll be looked at as guilty.
Have already decided that if I was in a store and someone comes in to rob it, I’m not getting involved, let them rob it. Now if I feel threatened that is a different matter. In either case I’m just going to get in my car and drive away. I’m not going to be accused like Daniel Penny.

I promise to only shoot those that deserve it. Good enough?

Living in Illinois that's EXACTLY how to do things here.

If I was living in a DEMOCRAT controlled state: YES! Look no further than Daniel Penny if you have doubts. In my state, Penny would be a hero & case never went to trial.

There was one company, it seems like it was USCCW or something like that (web address was all acronyms), that were like spammers on crack. They wouldn't unsubscribe, etc. I finally had to block them. Not the type of people I want to do business with. I was considering it before their heavy handed approach. I didn't find them on the first several pages of Google search so maybe they didn't last.

Personally, I looked into it considering the cost and such. In the end, I considered where I live and how I live. I decided that I generally don't put myself into a high risk situation. That is not to say it won't happen (if I knew that, I wouldn't carry at all), but I feel OK with my options. Also, if you don't have a trust, get one and keep it up to date. That will lessen the financial backlash of any civil suit that might potentially follow.

Most insurance companies offer "umbrella" policies that protect you against unforeseen events that exceed the usual limits of your liability insurance. Most start at $1M, often much higher. Ask your insurance agent, prices vary by state/company.
