Pardoned but not exonerated. Joe and Hunter will always be considered criminals. Jill will reap the financial rewards but her power is over. Maybe their unrecognized illegitimate granddaughter will be beneficiary to some of that I'll gotten wealth.

The gun charges should have never been brought as the law violates the 2nd Amendment. Joe should have stated this.
The guilty plea for the tax charges were dictated by Joe and James Biden to stop the investigation and discovery so the larger connection to Joe would be hidden.
The blanket pardon for any and all Federal Crimes committed over the past decade are to protect Joe's legacy regarding the influence selling and money laundering.
Probably the right move. Frankly, I do not really want to hear about Joe Biden ever again after 20 January.

Jimmy finally lived long enough to find a president worse than him, took a while but it happened!
The difference being that I think Carter was basically a good man and very well intentioned, he just didn't have a clue how to be an effective president. Biden and Obama came into it with ill will towards at least half the country and they ran things into the ground on purpose.

As for the pardon, he did that totally on his own, no puppet strings on this one. It provided a huge favor to his son of course, and sent a message to all that he is still the president, until he is not. I think he still has a couple cards up his sleeve yet to be revealed.
