They are participation awards. Badges for how many LOL, likes you receive from other members.
Stars are based on number of post you make.

asop including a picture and name dropping, starting polls etc. adds to the points to get stars, but you already got the 4 which seems to be the magic number… Nobody knows for sure how it all works, but even being here a long time it all comes down to do other members like you or not…and God forbid you are asked to help out because then members will either hate you or try to manipulate you… it is what it is. We have a bunch of good folks and some not so much… My opinion only…
