All the leftovers were ravaged within a couple days around our place 🙃

Tried a new one last night as turkey is about all gone. Toasted two pieces of Italian bread, put a slice of warmed up breast meat on bread, cranberries on the meat and had turkey cranberry sandwich. Will thaw left over dark meat and make a turkey pot pie later this week.

We pretty much only had some turkey and ham left….other than the sweets. I have been doing good at avoiding it, but thinking about how many days that stuff has been in the fridge makes me think its about time to get rid of it.

I take the leftover turkey and put it in the grinder next day. then add some mayo and pickle relish, Turkey salad sandwiches for a day or two then out it goes, or the wife takes a big bowl of it to work for anyone who wants it for lunch……….

Where's the soup? The Turkey Soup. The second reason for farming turkey. The first is smoked turkey drumsticks.

After day two I left everything to the acre tract and let the critters do it. Gone in a day.

One of my favorite things is the Honeybaked ham bone soup….you leave all the bits of ham on the bone and put it in a crock pot with the bag of beans and seasoning along with 8 cups of water. They sell the bag at the Honeybaked store. I grab up one of those every year and give it to whoever is keeping the bone. This year it went with my sister in law. I have hinted that she needs to let me know when they fix it so I can run over and get a bowl.

We had a 15 pound turkey. I love turkey, especially the dark meat, but after 3 days it gets old to me.

On day 4 I started feeding white meat to the dog. That sounds stupid but as I posted earlier, I bought our turkey for 27 cents a pound. It is cheaper than dog food.

White meat only for Daisy the Beagle.

allen griggs - I don't even have a dog of my own but I'll cook a turkey. For the dog I'll bone and chunk the white meat (the skin is for me though) then drive it so she would have a belly full. I'll eat the dark meat but what I'm really after is the carcass and the pan drippings to make the soup. Since they put the dog down I don't know if I'll ever cook another turkey. Maybe they'll get another dog? Even if they do I may not like their dog as much as I liked the last one.

When our kids left home, Julie and I considered renting a couple of teenagers to come over and eat our left overs…..
