The 1917 Enfield was the go-to action for the belted magnum cartridges for many years. There is a lot of info on converting it out there. The real person to ask is the person who does the work.

A=Square was Company that specialized in BIG caliber rifles built on the P-14/ P-17 actions.

Using large belted magnums. The P-14 was preferred as the bolt face was enlarged (rimmed 303) and the magazine box fed large shell better the the P-17 series.

I advise against this conversion. In 1997, I was almost killed when a P-17 converted to 257 Wby blew up in my face. My rifle exploded due to incorrect annealing of the front ring to facilitate D&T for scope base. Some of these actions are 'brittle' and age doesn't improve this condition.

Save lots of grief and use a commercial action or buy a ready built rifle.😕
