Makes it easier when they make house calls

A coworker I had some years ago he was a farmer so owned the land

He Puled a old camper out to a good vantage point at the edge of a field and woods and cut a shooting port into the side

He Had a coffee pot , heater well basic all conforms of home

And always had a pile of corn about 20 yards out

He always bragged got his deer(s) every year

I always made fun of him, Daaa, no kidding but he took it in stride

Same here, they are all city slickers…..lots of food and the cougars and wolves pretty much stay outside the city limits. Somewhere I have a picture of Momma and twins crossing the street in the crosswalk! Three years ago a sleezy bow "hunter" shot a huge buck in a neighbors yard and was caught on camera. He was caught and paid a hefty fine.

This is looking out are porch window, I look at are house as one big deer blind. I took a 8 pointer with my crossbow this year from the porch. He was 25 yards away, course he ran around back of the house and down into the ravine. Meat for the table. lol

Yep. When I had my house built I made sure the sliding glass doors faced the field. I haven't actually hunted from my deck, but I can stand in my kitchen and watch the wildlife crossing the fields. I enjoy that almost as much as hunting.

jimdeere If want, you could sit on the back deck & hunt turkeys that come through about every 4 weeks.

I know someone that shot a buck from his bedroom window with a 30-06. He said he still has hearing loss from one shot inside the house.

Over 20 turkeys the other morning thru our back area! Every once in a while a deer but not too much in the past 6-7 years.

Yeah, just sit there with a cup of coffee and a samich. If it gets cold I'll' have to take the screen out of a window and sit inside. LOL

That buck was chasing the doe all afternoon.

I don't recommend shooting toward the house. YMMV.

In commie Illinois you must be 300 feet from your residence to shoot a firearm.🤐

@Grasshopper. You have to be 300 yards from an occupied dwelling when using a rifle or a shot gun using slugs, unless you have permission from those that occupy the dwelling. I have hunted from my porch many times, I give myself permission to hunt next to MY house. In a way it’s a good law. I had some kids set up a deer blind less than 100yards from are house a couple years ago, I told them they didn’t have my permission, they just sort of laughed it off and thought I was kidding. Opening day they got to talk to the game warden.
I won’t go into all details of their dad and how he went ballistic. They leased the property to hunt there, but thought they didn’t have to follow the rules. Their dad starts in with no one is going to get shot, I told him I don’t think anyone thats been shot started out with the intent to get shot. These kids were 16 and 14 years old, and I didn’t know anything about them, other than they seemed to think they owned the property and ruled didn’t apply to them.

@walter- well a guy just got arrested for doing it less than 300 feet in Salem, Il. Sheriff says it is law, just going by what the report read. Could not find it at the DNR site which is common in this state.

@Grasshopper. I don’t know the details in this particular instance, but this is the regulations. If using shotgun with shot, it’s less than 100 YARDS, with slug or rifle, it’s less than 300 YARDS.

ok - well you would think the sheriff knows, maybe the guy did something also with that.

I myself did not know of the law 😬

I have “porch hunted”. I hunted for a porch for my new house for months! I finally built one myself….

While we have turkey a lot in the spring and whitetail does like to raise their fawns on/around our 10 acres. They can stay hidden there easily and we share a pond with the neighbor. We also see a ton of turkeys at our place. Around mating season the jakes and smaller toms like to come up to our glass storm doors. They stand in front of them and fan and strut. I think they are checking out their various looks and moves. In one picture below, we had the door off as we were painting it. In the background you can see tons of limbs down from a recent ice storm.

BTW, I still drive 200 miles to family land to hunt and don't bother these here except for the occasional squirrel if I catch them chewing on wires/house/vehicles.
