Hog Bounty
Lee County, Tx is offering a bounty on hogs & coyotes. Do I hear "Road Trip"?
Lee County's annual feral hog and coyote bounty program officially commenced with the start of the new fiscal year on Oct. 1, offering hunters a reward from its $10,000 prize pool.
According to a flyer from the Texas county, the season runs until Sept. 25 or until the funds are exhausted. Participants can earn $5 for every pair of hog ears submitted and $10 for coyote ears, and the animals must be harvested within Lee County.

I’d gladly take a trip like that. Problem is….. folks just don’t let you hunt anymore. Even though they all SAY they want the pigs reduced (just like GA, FL, and other states too), private land owners still want you to pay them $400-500 just to kill ONE pig.

Sad but I guess it's the greed
Maybe charge nothing or some small fee to cover the paper work ? I am sure the land owners have a contract about not being responsible for any thing while on their land,
but as its not my land sadly .so not sure how I would handle it other than not letting just anyone on my property
Using common sense and getting to know who is wanting to be their Would go a long way

Keep in mind that as in many other areas, the landowners aren't 'scuffing in the dirt' farmers and possibly not even involved in farming personally. Farm operations may be 'managed' and possibly not even 'managed' by real farmers but by 'money manager' types who look at any circumstance from a 'can I make something from this' standpoint.
Another aspect is liability. Under advice from our insurance provider, we don't allow hunting/fishing/trespass by non-family members. Doing so would increase our insurance costs by XXX%.

I buy insurance for any land I rent. I would have ZERO problem getting insurance to kill hogs too. That is not too much to ask. But when they want $10 to $12 per acre plus insurance to help with their "problem" thats what I take issue with. To each their own tho, its their land.

Yeah, I don't see a shortage of willing hunters as the problem,,,

Some years back we had a wedding party here at the house so we decided to COA
so my wife called our insurance company
It was like 20 or 30 dolars a year to have a million dollars, + insurance on guest the cost surprised us it was that inexpensive, so we just left it on the policie
But I get t land owners being cautious any more some people go out of the way to sue for what ever they can sad but true
I would have a lot of second thoughts about just anyone hunting if we owned a large enough place to allow it
