I think I'll make gumbo this weekend.
I was fast watching "True Blood" basically skipping all of Sookie and half of Tara the angry black woman. So while watching the antics of Rene and hearing his mushmouth I got a hankering for gumbo. Besides it's getting cold and gumbo in my belly would make me warm. I'm always glad seeing Hoyt and Jessica getting back together. Root for the Bubba.
So I have chicken drumsticks but no shrimp. I wonder if frozen shrimp is on sale? Yes I know I'm not supposed to mix but a Japo making gumbo I could add kidney beans (a shout out to the chili post). That reminds me I was watching Mescal being made by a Mexican speaking China man on youtube. What is this world coming to? A Korean guy with dreadlocks speaking Jamaican patois? I began by watching Pulque making a come back ("Under The Volcano" novel) and this was in the next to play line up.

Yeah, gumbo sounds pretty good. I usually make jambalaya in the dutch oven though.

One thing to never- never put in gumbo is dove. I have a neighbor that has made and brought over gumbo with sausage and dove in it before. Can’t think of any other way to ruin the taste of dove faster than to put it in gumbo.

It's supposed to be cool tomorrow & I was thinking of cooking up a pot of jambalaya. Extra onion, peppers, chicken, shrimp, ham, andouille & hot sausage at 7.5 for heat.

Sounds great, except the spicy hot. Just can't do very hot.
