Still upper 80's here and my acorns (Gambel's oak) are all down.

Fun Fact: Gambel's quail was named for the same person as Gambel's oak tree.

Yet more useless trivia taking up space inside my head. :)

Still in the mid-upper 80s here - FAR above normal. However, the winter storm that we usually get the first week of October will hit next week. It'll go from a high of 84 to 49 between Monday and Friday.

And Saturday is the deer opener! I remember one year like this when we set up deer camp on a warm, sunny Friday morning, and by midnight it was snowing sideways.

In my younger days (much younger days) I had several opening days with that sideways snow.

The last time that happened, as I was sitting in my blind with chattering teeth, I realized how stupid I was!!😂

I couldn't see 10 yards, the wind was cutting right through my clothing making me shiver so bad that even if I had seen a deer I was shaking to bad to take an accurate shot.

The real clincher in my decision to beat feet back to my pickemup truck was no deer would be dumb enough to be out in a blizzard. I might be that stupid but deer aren't!!
