    Taste like 🍗 chicken

It's a reptile, so the meat has that faint metallic aftertaste they all have. Frying it masks what little actual flavor it has. I've had it chunked in gumbo, where it's pretty darn good. If you've ever had frog legs or snake, it's quite similar.

Neither of which are much like chicken, btw.

I had it once, dipped in tempura batter deep fried in peanut oil. Pretty tasty!

OK, so it was dipped in butter milk, flour and deep fried. Internal temp 180 to 190.

Flavor is mild. Some pieces were gummy / chewy, and some were soft and tender. Reminds me of frog leg and chicken gizzard, which I like both. So yes we eat aligator tail and probably will again.

Did it have a image of Troy "Choot 'em" Landry? While trying to spell his last name i came across this.

Troy Landry from 'Swamp People' cited following alligator hunting bust: Reports
Troy Landry, who has appeared on 15 seasons of the show "Swamp People", was charged with improperly tagging alligators last month, according to reports.

Gator tail is often cut in scallop size peices and deep fried. Serve with dips and sauces.

    Yeah, like frog legs.

I had it once at a Cajun place a very long time ago. Unfortunately, I can't seem to remember what it tasted like.

I just suppose that if it was really super good, I'd have made it a point to eat it again.

Exactly. If everything tastes like chicken, then what does chicken taste like?

The chicken reply always gets me. I usually just respond back with a "yeah". If I have time I might ask, what kind of chicken? You know, fried, baked, broiled, boiled, grilled, chicken soup, chicken salad, chicken n dumplins, pecan chicken, BBQ chicken, chicken teriyaki, ect. I get a blank look and a "I'm not real sure, just regular chicken". That earns them another, yeah.

Bubba from Forrest Gump named 21 different ways to prepare shrimp, the chicken above reminded me of that.

"You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

First man to eat a chicken: "Hmmm…"

Second man, "What's it taste like?"

    First man, "Everything else."
