Ca. 11% firearms tax
If I purchase an antique firearm from an out of state seller am I charged the newly added 11% "gun tax" above and beyond the usual sales tax? It seems to me that the added tax should only be applied to sales within the state. Any information is appreciated and please no B.S. comments like "move somewhere else". Eddie

Yes Eddie, I believe you would. In my thinking it will be just like sales tax, and the seller would have to collect that tax just the same as they would have to collect sales tax.

Thank you my friend. That is what I thought too.

In Michigan we pay 110.00 for our Concealed Pistol Permit good for 5years. Tax on our second amendment rights.

Ans: The new 11% California "Sin tax" is only charged to retail BUYERS whom reside w/in Kalif.
Antiques & C&Rs are not exempt from this, either: per CA DOJ, antiques/C&Rs coming into Kalif must ship to an FFL, who then MUST charge the normal DROS fee of $33.xx + 11% CA sin tax.

It is all part of the Supreme Court decision in 2018 allowing states to charge sales tax on internet sales. Before the decision a company only had to charge sales tax if they had a physical presence in a state.
Now most internet sales platforms collect the tax by state for Sellers and the platform remits the tax to each state ie what GB does.
