,43 Spanish in a Dutch Beaumont?
I have heard that the .43 Spanish ammo may be used in the Dutch Beaumont rifle. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks, Tom

Absolutely not! There are no modern made ctgs that can be remodeled to use in the 43 Egyptian or 43 Beaumont. Bertram make the correct brass. 0 -
Don't try pushing your luck with the old 19th Century military rifles. Since they were made for low pressure black powder cartridges, many weren't made with the steel used in modern firearms.
Case in point, was having trouble extracting a BP hand load from a Danish made Rolling Bloc that had a fouled chamber. Hit the hammer with a plastic hammer and the thumb piece on the Danish RB's hammer broke off. It turns out the the Rolling Blocks of that era were made from wrought iron, not modern carbon steel. Don't know about Beaumount, never owned one. Best to use the correct ammo, even if you have to load it yourself for the old timers.0 -
My plan was to reload with blackpowder.

has Beaumont brass, some formed from .50-90 if you will use a .457" bullet; some made by Bertram for smaller diameter bullets.0 -
Thanks for the replies. The rifle is in pretty good shape and I think it will be fun to shoot. Got it for $50.00 from an old guy walking around with it at a gun show.
