    trapshooter870,

From the circular trademark, which looks like "ALFA", your gun may be one of these:

ALFA Tradename of Armero Especialistas Reunidas (Spain) c. 1920.

Someone else can tell you more.[;)]

Yeap. you have a Spanish copy of the sw1905 patten. See page 89, Illustration #551 in the
"Illustrated encyclopedia Of handguns" by A.B. Zhuk.

quote:I paid $400, good deal or not?

It is in really nice shape, but I think you paid too much for it, which is not unusual at a live auction.

If you bought it to resell at a profit you overpaid.
If you bought it to use and enjoy you're right on the money.

Just because it looks nice, don't be fooled. Generally these Spanish copies are not of as good of quality as the American models they copy. Do some research to determine what ammo is safe to shoot. Likely will be in the low pressure range.

The $400 might be OK if it was real Smith, but its too much for a Spanish copy of a Smith.
