remington 600 6mm value?
Hi, I just traded for a Remington Model 600 6mm with vent rib. I am not familar with them, but it was so nice I wanted it. I had a brand new winchester 94 trapper with large loop in 44 mag. ( 90's version with crossbolt safety, 16 inch barrel) I traded for it. This guy had tried to get the trapper from me for a long time but I wasn't wanting to get rid of it. The 600 rem. had 99% wood and 98% blue, it is really nice. I am just going to call it 98% overall. He said he had 750 in it. I do not know much at all about these, but I really like the 6mm remington caliber. How much is it worth? Also was this a good trade/ bad trade? if so how good/bad? Thanks for the info.

big_gus,
It seems to me that if you've already made the trade that you were happy with the value exchange between the two rifles or else you wouldn't have made it.
Remington M600's have a small but fierce following. The magnums, in both 6.5mm Rem Mag. and 350 Rem Mag., seem to get the biggest slice of attention due to fewer numbers being made as well as the highest prices on auctions. The .308 Win. was the most popular, had the highest manufacturing numbers and therefore are more plentiful and less expensive on auction.
You can do a search on the auction side for both available rifles and completed auctions to see what some have sold for recently. It's a pretty good indicator of current demand and value.
I personally have paid in the neighborhood of $300 - $350 for the common cartridges but I stood on the sidelines as folks paid upwards and over of $1,000 for the magnums.
If you're happy with the trade, who cares what the auction value is? I think $750 is high for that rifle but the lack of availability may support it given the fervor of the 'collectors'. The Remington 600 is a working rifle to me, not some safe queen to hold onto as an investment.
