Mosin Nagant 91/30 Sniper Rifle Zeroing
I recently purchased a 91/30 sniper rifle. After sighting it in I've tried to zero the sights but have had some problems. I've loosened the 2 calibration screws as required by the article that I read. In doing so you're supposed to be able to turn the knob without moving the crosshairs. The crosshairs still move. If anyone has any advice on how to correct this please let me know. One additional thing that I noticed, that's not mentioned in the article is a small screw at the center of the adjustment knob. I've both loosened and removed this screw and it still hasn't helped. In advance, thank you for your time and help.

Many older scopes DID move the cross hairs to zero the scope to the point of impact. also some had adjustable mounts so you could Zero this way. 0 -
I understand that, and understand what you're talking about adjusting the mount, but the article that I read did state that you could loosen the calibration screws and reset the adjustment knobs without destroying what you just did at the range without the crosshairs moving. When I do this, after I loosen the calibration screws and attempt to reset it to zero the crosshairs still move. Am I missing something, or a step somewhere? 0 -
Loosen center screw, and back the other two out until the turret cap moves. Some require taking them all the way out.
There were many variables on the Mosin rifle and PU scope mount. To correct for that, the Russians allowed for windage and elevation adjustment in the mount, as well as the scope.
Here's how to sight one in:
