The gun is what is known as a "Trade Brand Name" shotgun. That is a shotgun made by a major maker (and before 1940) for and was sold by a wholesaler or retailer who chose the name to go on the gun.Guns with the name KEYSTONE ARMS were made by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich, CT (1892 to 1931) for and were sold by the E.K. Tryon Jr. & Company of Philadelphia,PA, a large wholesale and retail sporting good dealer. Find the serial number on the gun and I may be able to tell you when it was made. I will need to know if it is a hammer type or hammerless. Caution. The gun was made using the technology and metallurgy of the times when it was made and for the ammunition in use then. While I doubt it has damascus barrels it will have either 2 9/16 inch or 2 3/4 inch chambers. It was designed for either black powder or early low pressure smokeless powder shells and lead shot. It was not designed for more modern high pressure smokeless powder 3 inch or magnum shells or steel shot. While the gun may still be fired if in sound condition and using appropriate ammo. I can't recommend it because I can''t see the gun to determine its condition. If you intend to try to shoot it, have it checked out by a good competent gunsmith first. Value? The value of these old guns depends on the condition, the amount of original finish remaining on the metal and wood as well as the mechanical condition. A prime example that appears to have come out of the factory yesterday afternoon might bring $150 while a rusty rotten incomplete piece of junk fit only for parts salvage might bring $10. Your gun is incomplete because of the missing forearm. The maker has been out of business for almost eighty years and there are no off the shelf replacement parts. You can try Gun Parts Inc or Jack First Inc. for a replacement forearm or surf the various gun auction sites like Gun Broker.com looking for a forearm or parts gun 0 -
The problem with a break action gun missing the forearm is that it is missing the foreend IRON, which is half the opening "hinge" and in hammerless guns contains cocking levers and ejectors. So it is not just a piece of walnut, it is a major part of the operating machinery. The only source would be off a junked gun of the same make and model. 0
