defective gun
O.K. Fellas, I need some advice. I guess I can say it here. This is my first forum, but I'm angry. I bought a new in box 7mm.o8 Savage Edge from Woodbury Outfitters on Deember 5. Rifle was promptly delivered. The bolt is defective. Spring jumps out of place and it takes pressure to replace the little button on the side of the bolt back in place. So I called Woodbury and asked that the rifle be replaced or refund my money. They were nice. They said it is not their problem and to call Savage. I did and they were nice. Pack the gun up they said ,they will pick it up and "we'll fix it" and send it back. I don't want the gun "fixed", I bought a new rifle and paid for it promptly,. I'd like a new rifle or money back. Is it my problem now to send it back, ect? Is this right? EE

It may not be "right", but this type of scenario is most likely what anyone will go through from many of the manufacturers out there today. 0 -
99% of all manufacturers warranties, written or implied, allow of repair or replacement at their discretion. If replacing the bolt solves the problem then giving you a brand new rifle seems very unlikely. 0 -
Is Savage paying for freight both ways? If so, I would say they've done what they should do and if not - they shouuld. Every company makes mistakes, fixing a bolt would not make me view the gun as less than new or compromised in any way.
BTW, you can mail the gun to them directly, you don't need the services of an FFL. And Savage can mail the gun back to you directly.0 -
Fellas, I feel better talking to you today. I feel better about the situation as the day goes on. Just felt a bit disappointed to begin with. If Savage takes this rifle and goes over it and says its ok then ok. EE Savage is going to pay for postage both ways. Thank you. 0 -
look at this way savge will fix it or replace at thier desscretion..but it will get more attention now than it did at assembly..every manufacture has problems now and then 0 -
Frustrating for sure!! If Savage makes it right it will still be a new gun as far as quality goes. Savage is attempting to stand behind the product, give them the chance to do so. 0 -
Savage called me this p.m. In fact, they called me all day about making things right. Right now I would buy two more of the guns if I had the money. I have not seen any company go out of their way the way they have for me today. As "fordix" said the rifle will have more attention, now,. Tonight I feel bad about getting so upset about the rifle. I apologize to Savage Arms and Joe Degrande for my reaction. It's late...I think I'll go to bed. Thanks fellas. 0
