Is surplus 5.45x39 corrosive?
Just bought a case(well, really a can) of 5.45x39. Is any off this stuff coming in corrosive? I hope it isn't, the U.S. made barrel on the ak-74 doesn't appear to be chrome lined.

Corrosive. Don't be scared, just clean your gun. 0 -
Yes, its corrosive.
Just clean your gun thoroughly after shooting and you'll be fine.
If its a solid build, that's a good price on the ammo and gun.0 -
+3 Corrosive. Some use windex some hose em down with water.
Make sure you get the gas tube washed out as well.
Follow the water or windex with a good water displacer like WD40 or your gun oil of choice.
If you don't want to deal with corrosive ammo, Wolf, Golden Tiger, and Silver Bear are all non-corrosive.0 -
Thanks for the answers. I will assume corrosive, and will take the windex to the range with me. I do know how to run the test to check, but this way I know what to do, and how soon I have to do it. Corrosive ammo doesn't bother me, but corrosion does. 0
