Model 70 Value question
Dated at 1941, no real damage anywhere, inside and out. Fires great. This is my dads rifle that he inherited and so far nobody will give us a number as far as value. If you notice, there is 30GOV'T06 stamped on the barrel and it was made in '41. Maybe thats a big deal?

You could help us a lot if you only post full size images, and maybe ID some of the whole rifle. It is hard to find a good view not knowing which of the 13 images to try. 0 -
Yeah trying to figure that out now... Never posted pics before 0 -
Photos dont show alot on condition of wood or metal or if there was reblueing or refinishing. Does show a pre-war serial number. Tapping the rear bridge for scope is a slight downgrade on pre-war mod 70s. Barrel markings are typical for that rifle.Caliber is common. Recent auctions for guns of that era are 900-1400 dollars unless there is something significant (good or bad) not in your description. Condition narrows it down more. 0 -
It's hard to tell from your pictures but, it appears your model 70 has been drilled for standard rear scope mounts. If it has 2 screws in the rear mount, it's been drilled. If it has been drilled the collector value has been greatly deminished.

W.D.; take a look at the front sight ramp that's barely visible; this appears to be a prewar carbine. Too bad the stock has been sanded and the bridge tapped! 0 -
Bill,
By golly I think your right. What a shame.[|)]
