    Nice try, but no.

    Not if you live in the United States of America.

    Even if you rifled the barrel, Federal law prohibits converting rifle or shotgun actions to pistols, without sundry paperwork, fees, etc.

    Yes it is legal to do what you want, IF you live in a state the allows SBS (see NFA post above) and you fill out a Form 1, submit it with the $200 making tax and get it back approved. People do it all the time.

    You wouldnt even need to stamp .45 on it, but you would have to engrave your name, city and state as the maker.

    If your plan was to build a pistol then you have to start with a virgin or pistol receiver.
