M-16 sling
I have an original M-16 green nylon sling with aluminum hardware in good shape. Can someone shed some light on it's worth?
Thanks, Steve

My opinion is that they are worth next to nothing. They were noisy in the field and a pain in the butt. We took them off the rifle rather than use them. That is why the Army came up with the black "Silent Sling". As a surplus item, maybe $5 - $10 max. 0 -
In the Marines we had green slings, but they were cotton. We'd take the clip off of the back and instead of putting the sling through the front swivel, we'd loop it around the forearm and where the buttstock attached to the action, with the M16 under the sling- same for the M60. Not sure where/when they would have switched to nylon. 0 -
Thanks gentlemen for the insight. Looking closer the material is cotton. 0
