Iverjohnson Serial Number Question??
My Brother In Law has an Iver Johnson .410 Champion with a serial number of 21024 but we can't find any info on when it was made, Can one of the Experts help? It is a single barrel, with a lever break with a hammer. Is it possible to find what year the shotgun was manufactured?

There is much confusion about Iver Johnson made Champion guns and since we lost our resident expert, Mr, Bill Goforth, not much information. I have been able to gather the following information but can't be sure how accurate it is.
Guns made between 1909 and 1919 have all numerical serial numbers.
Guns made between 1920 and 1929 have a single alpha character prefix.
Guns made between 1930 and 1939 have a two alpha character prefix.
Gun made between 1940 and 1950 have a all alpha character serial number.
If the gun was made before 1925, the word CHAMPION appears on top of all other markings.
If the gun was made after 1925, the word CHAMPION appears belowall other markings.
