Colt 1911 upgrade to 1911A1
Folks:I have a parkerized Colt 1911 ser# 5748xx which has neen upgraded to 1911A1 configuration.There are no arsenal rebuild marks.The trigger finger clearence cuts are present. Are these cuts unusual on a 1911 frame

I have seen a couple like that discussed on the 1911 specialist gunboards.
The concensus was that it is an outside alteration, there was no provision in arsenal rework to cut the scallops.0 -
your pistol was built. end of 1918 the first trial 1911A1 were 1920 or later as a complete pistol Most likely not done by colt or military. 0 -
