You could post this over on the RELOADING forum if you want RELOADING HELP, just a thought......

I understand your concerns about reloading. That is why it is always best to use the data listed in the reloading books as opposed to asking anonymous forum members for loading information. I am sure that 99% of the folks on here would not steer you wrong, but I always go to the books, primarily Hornady and Speer for jacketed bullets and Lyman for cast bullets when I am working up new loads.

Ya, I'll look at on-line loading info that people give out, then confirm it with published stuff from reputable sources before I'll use it.

...and you already have [three, if memory serves] reloading manuals.

So, I think you were looking for a pet load. My .45c pet load is 8gr Unique pushing a 255gr ogival cast bullet, using non-magnum large pistol primers in my Colt SAA cowboy gun (5.5in barrel)

It will hurl the pill at almost 850fps..enough to stop the toughest buscadero in Laredo

My vote is still for Trail Boss, as the powder gives great case fill at 6.5gr. Probability of a excess charge is greatly reduced by doing a visual check on powder level. I put 4k through my Colt SAA 7 1/2 last year with no issues of any kind using the approved charges depending on bullet weight.

Thanx again for all the interest. Next time I will put question in proper forum. The purpose was to see what worked for others, then consult the manuals I have.
Ended up using Speer manual. Who ever said 8 grns of unique and 225 grn slug, was finding confirmation happily used.
Thanx again and yes I can spell Thanks.
    I like Thanx
