Used gun to CA.
Can a used revolver that is on the DOJ approval list be sent to CA?? I`ve heard both way. "Thanks"

That is not your problem.
You can legally ship any gun to an FFL in any state. If an FFL in CA says, "Yes, I will accept that specific gun from you", that's all you need to know. The legality issue is between the actual buyer & his FFL.

EDIT: As a nonlicensee, you don't need a copy of the receiving FFL's license. If he tells you his license #, that's all you need to get a printout from ATF's EZ-check, which will show you the FFL's name & address.0 -
Agree with Neal up to a certain point. I would make sure after receiving the FFL's license that you check with him/her/?, ( not always clear who or what your dealing with in lala land ), to verify that they would receive and transfer the specific revolver your inquiring about.
In the distant past when I was still selling on the auctions I had folks send me their FFL's license. I would then be contacted by the FFL inquiring about who the h**l I was, and why I had shipped them a gun. Some of them were not happy with my explanation.0 -
I may be wrong, but I think you need to be on the CADOJ's prer approved dealer list, and get their "Firearm Shippment Approval" direct from DOJ. Or does this apply only to dealers? I just did all of this yesterday, so I can ship a rifle to a CA. dealer today. 0 -
I agree with "it's not your problem" - responsibility for ensuring the gun can be imported to CA, will be accepted by the FFL if shipped from a non-FFL and that it can be sold from FFL inventory (as opposed to CA specific version of PPT, something a non-res can not do in CA) sits with the buyer. But since these deals can also end up with the buyer and seller griping at each other I think it's worthwhile to help if possible.
Here's the CA Roster - if the gun is on it you should be OK. Keep in mind it must be exactly the gun listed. If the 38 Special or 4" is listed and the 6" 357 version is not, it's a no go.

I'd like to say 100% you'd be OK, but I have questions regarding the list. For instance, the Browning Hi Power is on the list and that would seem to include older used models too - there's no model "dash 2" or "dash 3" like Smith & Wesson - just fixed sight, 9mm Browning Hi Power. However, I know CA FFLs regularly decline to import the 70s and 80s versions of this gun.
As a non-FFL you need not comply with CA CFLC.0 -

"Thanks" for all the replys. I`ve sent several NEW guns to CA but never a used one. Its on the DOJ approval list and I thought it was OK, just wanted to be sure. VGUN1 0
