choke selection?????

I need some opinions from goose hunters.I have not hunted water fowl since the introdution of non lead shot.I have a mossberg 835 ulti mag that i want to take goose hunting next year.I recently purchase alot of remington bb and bbb steel shot.Problem is that I dont know what choke to buy for my gun. Any help guys?????

  get yourself a couple of pieces of cardboard stick them at 45 yards and shoot them... Change chokes and shoot again.
  
  Likely you will end up with a full but you just never know until you pattern your loads and every gun patterns slightly different.
  
  And remember steel isn't as soft as lead and tends to pattern tighter, so you might be able to use a modified, and then it all depends on the ranges you plan on shooting.

  Good advice mossberg, I was shooting 3" BB this year and after I fired a shot into the water at about 40-50yrds I didn't realize how tight my pattern was.
  
  I had a modified choke in and my pattern was about 20" @ 40-50yrds.
  
  I had to go down to I.C.
  
  Shoot the gun on paper or water and see the pattern yourself.[;)]
  
  Every gun, every choke, every shell shoots different.

  FYI, A Lead shot tube marked Mod, is a Steel shot Full choke. Most tubes are marked for both.

  +1, steel shot doesn't form and settle in the choke like lead does. Lead is soft and steel is hard. If there is a a problem then your barel will often give (bulge)sooner than the shot. Start with a more open choke and work tighter if you have the option with screw in chokes. If not, well good luckquote:Originally posted by TRAP55
