I'm no expert, but I would say no. I think the number die stamp jumped a little or the frame moved when hit to cause the second light stamp. I don't know if this is a manual or machine operation in the factory. I know from experience when I stamp in metal, if the item being stamped is not absolutely secure you can get a second light strike from the recoil.

The V54 number is of the correct design and size for Colts serial numbers. I agree with mrs, the other number might be an accidental double strike or an assembly number used when the gun was made.

if it is still for sale i'll give you $750.00 (and that is stretching it) for it in it's present condition which i see it as a 60% IF that high !!

personally i have paid less for Pythons in better condition that one.

Thank you for that very generous offer but as you know, all offers to buy and sell should be made thru the auction side, not here. If you honestly believe that the revolver has 60% of the finish left, then I can understand your low ball offer. Maybe you need to get new glasses as percent of finish would rate about 95%[;)] But thank you again for very knowledgeable contribution to my thread![xx(]

Offers to buy are strictly prohibited in the Forums. You should be well aware of that by now.
