.22 mag Rugers
Whatever happened to the 10/22 Rugers in .22mag? I know that they are no longer made but what was the issue with it? Also does the Remington semi auto(model 597?)have the same issues? Are they reliable? I have a 10/22 Ruger in LR and its a great rifle. Anyway was wondering if anyone had experience with this rifle. thanks.

Ruger didn't want to make a steel recisver to hold up to the mag ammo. There are a couple of 22mag rifles with steel recievers out there. 0 -
There's a rimfire forum that has all the correct info about why these guns stopped being shooters and started being legends.
Many think it was the dual extractors splitting pieces off the bolt; the rest fixed the problem by JB Welding the left extractor shut, and filling in the holes.
Receivers may have had a problem containing all those bolts flying around; but they were made of steel (at least 2 of mine are).0
