    Lot of variables to consider with a 88. It should marked "GEW.88" if it's the standard infantry rifle. If it's completely original should have a .317 bore diameter and be loaded with Mannlicher enbloc clips.

    After 110+ years very few of these still in existence. Most 88's have been reworked for the .323 oversized "S" spitzer bullets, and Mauser type stripper clips.

    Without quality photos hard to call. If original probably well worth $500. Rework not likely.

    Look for an "S" stamped on top of the chamber area, if yes, it's a reworked one. Most go for about $100 to $175 around here. {mid Tenn.}
    Search for "Commission 88" Even thro it it is not the right name.

    here is one..

    A Kar88 is a short carbine with a spoon bolt handle and very short barrel. They are rare and valuable, well over $500 IF you can find one.

    Make sure it has the bolt head,extractor and ejector.
    A KAR88 without them is still worth $500.
