Well, in the first place, it is not a boxlock, it is a sidelock hammer gun.
The action is what is known in the books as the Lifter Action.
You lift up on the bar in front of the trigger guard to unbolt and open the gun. It was used when Parkers first went into production in 1869. The type was only gradually replaced by the regular top lever action with both being made from the 1870s until 1899.0 -
