Rossi '92 problem
..Have a Rossi '92 in .357. Everything works as intended while it's unloaded. When cycling the action, the cartridge lifter will drop down, so the round is not lined up with the chamber. Even when empty, with the lever down, a slight push on the lifter snaps it down to its lower position. Any ideas or links to a diagram?.....Thanks.

The lifter has a pocket, in its side. The pocket contains a spring & a stud. The spring pushes the stud into a notch, that is cut into the inside of the receiver. If the spring & pocket are gummed-up, then there is not enough tension to keep the stud in contact with the inside of the receiver. This will allow the lifter to drop, as yours is doing. ..That sounds reasonable BigLoop. This rifle was sqeaky clean when
I bought it and only has a few rounds through it. Thanks for the link to leverguns.com. I'm not too eager to tear it down without a schematic. Guess if I can strip a Win. '94, or Rem. Nylon 66, I should be able to do it.0 -

EDIT:
One other related item, that could cause what you are experiencing, is the notch, or shelf, inside of the receiver, that the lifter/ carrier detent stud works against, to keep the lifter in its correct orientation (up/ down). Be certain that it is clear, and that no one has filed on it, to try to lighten the levering effort.0 -
I had a Rossi '92 in .357 and I could never get it to feed right with .357 or .38's. When I was shooting CAS I heard a few others on the lines saying their .357 Rossi's were balky feeders as well, but never heard a bad word about the other calibers Rossi had. I took it to a place that specialized in CAS and CAS guns called Walker '47 many years ago, and their 'smith tried (after also saying it was a common issue)... but it just wouldn't be reliable.
For some reason that particular gun/caliber combo is one that (apparently) takes some bit of magic to get right, let us know if yours works out.0
