Correct Box for K-38
I have a 6", blue, K-38, pinned barrel, Serial Number 184,318.
I also have a gold Smith Box, metal reinforced corners, for a K-38.
Don't think the box is original to the revolver but I'm wondering if the type of box is correct for a K-38 in this serial range.

The S & W book has a section on boxes. If your K-38 has a "K" prefix it would date to 1953. This would be the correct time frame for the gold box.
On the other hand if it has a "D" prefix, DOM would be late 60's and box would be blue.0 -

Yup, gold box is correct for that K 38.
