After posting on the Blackpowder forum, I thought it might be better here..

Does any here know about a 1" square silver pin/metal you would wear on a uniform/clothes from the NMLRA?

It is the shape of a possible bag with two small eyehooks for attaching to something.
On the back is engraved: 1989
Eastern W.V.
489

  Looks like a trinket from one of their shoots. In case you're not aware NMLRA is the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.
  
  Go to their website, NMLRA.org, click on Charter Clubs, select West Virginia, and contact information for six clubs will appear. Maybe somebody in one of those clubs can help you.

  Sounds like a pin from 1989 NMLAR Eastern Erimitive Eendezvous (NMLRA-EPR). I know the 1984 one was in Aurora WV but not for sure as to the 89 NMLRA-EPR (National Muzzloading Rifle Association Eastern Primitive Rendezvous)was held at but it should be easily looked up at NMLRA.org or contact them and they can tell you. The holes are for a small piece of twine to make the strap of the possibles bag which the pin is. Does the pin have a way to hook it on something? IF not them the twine that went in the holes it how they hooked it or you could sew through the 2 holes to sew it to a banner.
  
  Now if asking of a value, most likely not any but you could contact the bushway of the 89 NMLRA-EPR and they might find the owner or a buyer IF the bushway is still around and the club that hosted the 89 NMLRA-EPR is still around. The NMLRA rendezvous have lost a lot of steam over the years due to politics within the ranks of the NMLRA and due too corruption in the NMLRA sponsored rendezvous program. I know the 84 one at Aurora, WV the bushway used it to build a high dollar road to a very hard to access piece of property he owned AND used some of the proceeds to build a new house. The mid 80s was a time that the program came under fire for miss-use of the money allocated for rendezvous to a point that the rendezvous program almost bankrupted the NMLRA.
  Sorry for the long drawn out answer but in part I quit the NMLRA due to the politics which destroyed the NMLRA as we knew it and I am very distrustful f the program today.
  
  I just remembered, you could go on their web site and get the contact number at Friendship In at the NMLRA Walter Cline Range. They are having their fall national shoots beginning today for the next 10 days. They are in the offices there during the day and could tell you exactly all the info you need as to that pin. I sadly cannot go (I go to buy a few things I need and sell a BP gun if I want to sell one) each spring and fall during the national shoots BUT am laid up with a broken fibula which I broke 3+ weeks ago.
