Ruger 77/22 Magazine Insertion

No, but having the 77/22 and a bunch of their 44 rifles I think I've figured it out. Bolt to the rear, index finger on top of mag. Thumb on bottom, depress release latch and lift rear of mag just a bit. Your thumb should scoop forward. Press down on top of mag with index finger and out it comes.

The mag is anchored front & back, that's why it's a PITA.By depressing the release with your thumb you release the rear. By pushing down on the top with your index finger you remove the front from the pin.

I have not only seen others with that problem but has also experianced it myself. What always helps is to slightly cant the nose of the magazine upwards then rock the back into posistion. Remember to go nose first and you'll be fine

The only time I've had difficulty was while wearing heavy gloves.
Maybe a drop of oil on the mag release parts will ease it a bit.

I've had 5 or 6 10/22's but they are all now gone. Can't recall magazine insertion and removal ever having been a problem or requiring any special technique.

Thank God for my opposable thumbs; without them, magazine insertion in my 77/22 would be tough.
