Folding stock on AK Zastava

    It won't fit. Yugoslavian AKs use an unusual attachment point for their butt stocks where a long bolt runs through the stock and screws into a threaded nut on a plate at the rear of the receiver. The rubber butt plate covers this bolt but if you remove it you can see the hex head. A typical AKM has an open receiver and you can slide in anything but this is not the case with a Zastava.

    I have been waiting for an hour to put up a photo but Photobucket keeps telling me that the site is down for maintenance. If I could in fact show you a photo of a Zastava AK butt stock it would show a solid plate at the rear of the receiver with no tang (top or bottom) attached. This means that no AKM butt stock of any type can just slide into the receiver of a Zastava, you need a Yugo butt stock or some sort of aftermarket stock designed specifically for a Zastava. The actual folding stock Yugo's use the classic under-folder type which would involve drilling holes into each side of the receiver; not something that the average hobbiest is likely to attempt.
