Reloading for 2 rifles need help
I have 2 Model 94 Winchesters.
I am loading the Lyman cast #311291 with 8 grains of Unique.
The OAL says 2.521.
One rifle, it feeds fine.
The other rifle requires the bullet to be set at 2.451 to feed without jamming it into the lands and using some pressure.
Not concerned with affecting accuracy though.
Is the shorter OAL safe to run with, in using 8 grains of Unique?
I want my wife and I to use the same bullet and load with either rifle.
( I do have some 165 gr flat nose to use after this supply is gone. They work just fine in both at the stated OAL.
Information from Lyman manual 48th Edition.)
Thanks!

I would not worry about it, the pressure for lead loads is pretty low to begin with. 0 -
I think max is 10 gr of Unique, but I'm unsure about how much pressure build will occur with the shortened OAL.
My wife's 1953 Winchester has a much shorter throat than my 1972 Winchester. The bullets won't feed in hers at the longer OAL at all.
I have several hundred of these and want to use them up!0 -
At .070 shorter, it won't make any difference in pressure.
2gr under max is quite a lot.0 -
It was prudent to ask, and the answer is as stated above: perfectly fine. 0 -

Got a chance to shoot them today.
They both shot the same OAL rounds great!
And Rocky, I got the original load date and idea to download several of my guns, from your website. Thanks for the great info!
My kids have shot hundreds of reduced cast loads from several of my rifles.
It's fun watching a 10 yr old shooting and enjoying a 45/70 and a 30/06.
You should see the looks they get from some of the elder shooters at the club!0
