Smith model 66 was introduced in 1971.
The "-1" modification, consisting of moving the gas ring from the yoke to cylinder occured in 1977.
You didn't ask, but -2 came in 1982 and consisted of eliminating the cylinder counterbore.0 -

Well no one asked but I'll mention liking the 66 - 4 because the hammer and trigger were made of carbon steal and case hardened. [8D] 0
