Glock ejection problem

I took my 8 year old son out shooting over the weekend and my new gen 4 Glock 17 would not eject the rounds when he fired it. He shot my gen 2 Glock 17 and it worked fine. I fired 5 mags through it and did not have any problems. What could cause this to happen?

    Weak wrist, AKA Limp Wrist.
    Once he develops some wrist strength, the problem will go away.
    You can duplicate the problem by using a very weak grip on the pistol, IE trigger finger and just a little pressure with your pinky finger, allowing the pistol to move freely in your hand.

    Is the recoil spring stiffer in the gen 4 than the gen 2 ?

    Not necessarily stronger (rating wise) but the older spring may have a few more miles on it and may have worn-in enough to be functionally enough weaker to allow the gen 2 to work. My SWAG FWIW

    I agree, soft wristing the gun caused the jams with shooter #1.

    a gun that runs flawlessly wiht one shooter and malfunctions with another(same magazines, same ammo, same shooting conditions etc) eliminates the hardware as the problem. all you're left with is "software", in this case the shooter.

    i would suspect, as all the other so far, that your 8yo son doesnt have the hand and wrist strength to properly control the gun.

    I've actually seen adult women "limp wrist" .22 auto pistols on their first outing shooting.

    At first I couldn't figure out why the gun in question kept jamming, though I did eventually figure it out. The problem went away entirely when I told them to grip the gun firmly.

    You should be able to feel a difference, if any. I suspect the Gen 4 is more heavily sprung, which contributes to a limp wrist effect with small statured shooters.

    The Gen 4 guns have a dual spring column similar to the subcompacts.
    I think it was helpful on the .40s but a change that was not needed on the 9mm. They went through some spring changes. Have you got the latest version?

    It is the dual spring column. I just compared the springs and the gen 4 is definitely stronger. Thanks for the help Tim
