Scope Ring Mounting

I've often wondered this and never sought an answer, is there a right/wrong side for scope rings mount knobs to be on, right or left ? I've put them on both sides and can't tell the difference so is it a "whatever look you like" type deal ? I see them in advertising brochures & magizine pictures both ways [:)]

  Use a scope alignment rod and I put mine on the left,,,just me and seems to have worked for 40 years,[:I]

  For rifles that eject to the right, if the knobs are on the right side, on occasion the knob will interfere with loading or ejection of the cartridge, so for those rifles that have Weaver type mounts I put the knobs on the left side.

  Scopes mounted on the M-1C had windage knob on left. I forget the A-4
  setup.
