357sig with manual safety

My father left me a Sig Sauer P229 in the 357sig caliber along with about 2000 rounds of ammo.
It is a nice gun and I have learned to really like the caliber.
It has a de-cocker but lacks a manual safety.
I would like to purchase a 357sig cal. with a manual safety.
So far the HK usp compact is one of the very limited choices I have.
It looks like an HK may be the only choice.
Can anyone tell me if there are any others in 357sig w/safety?

    You might consider looking for a 40 S & W pistol, with a manual safety. There are a lot more of them on the market then pistols chambered for 357 Sig.


    As the parent cartridge case for the 357 Sig, is the 40 S & W. All it takes to convert a 40 S & W to 357 Sig is a change of barrels. Nothing else.

    EDIT #1, From my personal experience, its not the magazines that cause the problems when shooting .357 Sig from a 40 S & W or 10mm platform.

    The first .357 Sig barrels I used were Korean made. They were specifically made to be used in the Glock Model 20/10 mm. Because the chambers were machined to long. I had incipient failure/stretch marks in the brass, making them nonreloadable.

    The .357 Sig barrel I'm using now is from Lone Wolf. It was specifically made to convert a G 27/40 S& W, into .357 Sig. The chamber was machined correctly. Have no problem at all with commercial ammo, or my reloads.

    I've grown to like the 357sig caliber. If you can find a 40S&W pistol you like, you may be able to find a 357sig barrel for it.

    I know it doesn't have a manual safety, but I have a Glock 20C with which I shoot 10mm, 40S&W, and 357sig using the same magazines. The only change I make is the barrels.

    You might wish to look for some of the 4 generation S&W auto's. I do believe they made a TSW version in 357 Sig. 357 SIG is a great chambering, and that is a fine firearm you have.

    the 229 sig is a great weapon. i would not trade it for a s&w. .357sig is one of my favorite calibers.

    Get a steel frame EAA Witness (CZ97b clone) in 40 S&W, then replace the barrel.

    The 357 SIG caliber was designed on purpose to be an easy conversion for 40SW. They run in the same guns, and use the same magazines.

    The only thing you need to do to change any gun to 357SIG frmo 40SW is swap the barrel. Aftermarket barrels are available for most popular gun makes.

    So first figure out which GUN you want, then you can try and find one (or just a barrel) in 357 SIG.

    On EAA Witness, you need to make sure the barrel you get matches the frame size. There are large frame, and no-longer made small frame guns, and the barrels don't interchange. Firedragon makes 357 SIG barrels for at least the small frame version (or used to).

    Now that you mention it, I seem to recall reading that there is some difference between the Glock 357 Sig and 40SW magazines, though I don't remember what the difference is, nor how important.

    I too like the .357 Sig very much. I have all of mine in Sig platforms, 226, 229 and 239. The 239 is one exception to the rule that you only need to change barrels, with it you also need to change to .357 specific magazines. I had BarSto Precision make all of my barrels and they make a fine barrel. One expensive lesson that I learned was that the .40 S&W Para's can't be converted, they use a .45 ACP length magazine and the bottle-neck case makes the .357 Sig nose dive into the front of the magazine. There are some .40 S&W pistols out there that have had manual safeties added for gun-phobic states and you may be able to find one of these.
