Winchester Mod. 37, 20 ga. Parts

Can anyone tell me where it may be possible to locate parts dimensions for the Mod 37. I have a gun that the firing pin is not contacting the primer sufficiently to cause ignition on occasion. There is a small indentation on the primer when it does not fire. When it does fire the indent appears normal. There is something that may be marginal that I cannot identify by visual exam. which may be located dimensionally.

    it may be the spring(it a solid coil) that holds the opening lever up,if it is worn or broken it lets the lever move down and as the firing pin goes threw the lever shaft the shaft may be rubbing on the firing pin,retarding the firing pin enough for a light firing pin strike.eastbank.

    may be exessive headspace, when gun does fire shell is driven back into firing pin causing indentation to appear normal

    Could be worn/short/interference of parts. You have made sure the firing pin tunnel is clear. I have seen reloaded cases that appear convex bases and factory ones with primers set very deeply, worth looking at. Perhaps the easy solution is extending the protrusion of the firing pin. Keep the ball profile.

    i have tried the winchester service phone lines and while helpful on newer arms,they have not been to sellar on discontuned models,but is worth a try. i would realy clean it good inside as crud and dried grease and oil could gum up the works. what i had with my 37 was a broken spring that hold up the openning lever and it caused the same intermittet problem. eastbank.

    Thanks for the input. I have tried all suggestions except for extending the firing pin. The pin is now even with the face of the receiver in the relaxed position and any extension or lengthening will cause interference with the extractor on closing, and be resting against the loaded primer.

    Big Cedar Idaho, wondered if you have solved your intermitten light primer strikes.I can think of at least ten different things that will cause this condition.Have probably had over two hundred of these apart.First thing to try is pull hammer back,point barrel down and drop hammer letting gravity do it's thing.Any resistance pulling back or hesitation when hammer drops.Also,do you feel any resistance when working hammer back and forth with trigger pulled.This is just a starting point and we can work from here.
