Stainless DSA FAL....
I know this is a custom gun but other than that I don't know anything about it, there is no info on their website about this specific model. If anyone knows anything about it some help would be.... well... helpful [;)]
It's a pretty nice firearm but I think I need to know more about it to get what it's worth.

EDIT 1: dfletcher- I think you are right, this is (I think) an all DSA made custom order gun. I emailed DSA about it but they never emailed me back. I do think it is stainless, if it's not it is doing a REAL good job of looking stainless to me:
it might be this in 416:

When I list this gun on GB i get lots of questions about it but I don't know what to tell people since it's a custom build.
I looked at it again very closely, a magnet will stick to the reciever and where the finish is worn a bit in the magwell it looks stainless

Thanks llama ill try that site for answers

Don't know squat about it! That said, the finish in the photo looks like electroless nickel, rather then stainless.
If it is stainless? I would contact the manufacture whose name is marked on the receiver. If they are still in business.
EDIT #1, Your best bet for getting top buck out of it, is if you can substantiate that it left DSA as a custom special order job.
You might try contacting their customer service folks by phone. Most firearms manufacturers nowadays have 800 numbers and customer service departments, to respond to potential legal liability problems.0 -
I'd ask on falfiles.com
EDIT post TH's update - If I was gonna spend near 3k on a FAL, I'd be having a Belgian0 -
Folding stock paratrooper model DSA. Very nice, especially the barrel fluting. SAW grip, DSA scope mount. Looks like a nicely executed rifle. I don't think DSA makes stainless receivers. I suppose the barrel could be stainless, but that it matches the receiver so well indicates to me they were all finished at the same time.
It looks like a very nicely done "one of a kind" carbine. Very nice.
Edit: A little poking around on the web shows other examples of stainless receivers made by DSA and some finished (in limited quantity) guns made by DSA. This one seems to not have the carry handle cutout in the receiver and that is consistent with others pictured on the web.
A visit to "Perfect Union" site shows a 2006 question being asked about a stainless DSA 58 with link to the DSA website. The link is dead because it seems the item is no longer offered.
I think I'd want to switch my "vote" ....[;)]0 -
$100 says that is NOT stainless 0 -
It could be a hard chromed reciever. 0 -
DSA did make stainless receivers (and barrels). Not sure on serial range, or where manufactured (Greyslake or Barrington). As I said above, check on falfiles. 0 -
for posterity or in case anyone was wondering; it went on GB for $2850
which I view as a fair price for all concerned; and the man who bought it alluded to doing more work to it and wanting it for the reciever, I would love to have had it myself but it should be with someone who understands it and can make it "right"
to everyone here: thanks for the help and info-
now to forge and machine a stainless custom MP5

PS:
I sent this via UPS in a hard case (a sig AR case) inside another large cardboad box and UPS somehow managed to set something on top of it so heavy that they bent the charging handle and it was sticking out of both boxes
