Barnett Commando crossbow
Hello, I have a Barnett Commando crossbow I just bought. I was hoping that someone could tell me what kind of bolt/arrows to use in it. It is 175lb. I wanted to get graphite arrows, but I'm not sure and really don't know the length I will need. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Call Barnett and have them send you a owners manual and read the manual before using your bow!
I've been a stick and compound bow hunter for years and bought a DOA Barnett crossbow awhile back and very little info on-line about this named bow!
All the info I needed was in the Barnett Owners manual they promptly sent to me. (including safety don'ts)0 -
Barnett Commando crossbows have been out of production for years, but they're still sought-after because of their iconic look.
My Google-fu says they were last made in the 1980s and take either 14" or 13.5" flat nock bolts (arrows). EDIT: Reading more on this, I've found some documentation that these were rated for 16" bolts, and 18" ones supposedly work fine.
Carbon-fiber (graphite) arrows probably weren't in widespread use when these were manufactured, but I'd imagine they'd work perfectly fine.
Contacting Barnett about this is probably the best idea.

Well, to be clear firing too light bolts will increase stress on the components, and can be much noisier than appropriate weight bolts.
Its not nearly so bad as dry firing (which can ruin a bow with one shot), but too light bolts can can cause bow parts to fail prematurely, potentially ruining the bow and even causing injury to the shooter.
And don't forget, tip weight is a factor too.
Ultimately any bow has a minimum recommended arrow weight, and you shouldn't go lower than that.

I had better luck on my Barnett crossbow using glass bolts a few inches longer than they had recommended...
Best to test @ the range for your expected situation. Cabellas has some nice selections.0
