winchester 1890 gallery gun?
A friend told me he thinks all model 1890s in 22 short caliber were gallery guns.
I would think many 1890s in this cal. were also sold to individuals for personal use.
Also,on the GB auction side a seller describes his 1890 as a gallery gun due to the milk bottle shaped loading port.
Im not sure what he is referring to.
Will someone please share their knowledge in these matters?

gallerys had a V cut loading port to use with the tube loaders 0 -

Is the loading port an opening in the fill tube where the ammo is loaded into the tube after the rod is pulled forward?

Your friend told you wrong. Relatively speaking, very few of the Model 1890 rifles in 22 Short were Gallery guns. Additionally, I have never seen a Model 1890 with the V-cut loading port. The Model 62/62A was fitted with that type of loading port for gallery gun purposes. 0 -
