Hawthorne ammo

Does anyone happen to know how long it's been since JC Penney had ammo made with the Hawthorne headstamp? Photo turned out fuzzy but it says Hawthorne Reliance

  I believe the early '70s, Henry. At least I remember seeing it for sale in '70 or '71. I also think it was manufactured by Federal.

  hawthorne is a federal brand

  Hawthorne was a brand name used by Gamble Hardware (Gamble-Skogmo) but can't remember if they sold ammo under that name.

  I have a full box of Wards Hawthorne plastic 12 ga. shotshells, made in 1968.
  
  I believe Montgomery Wards carried the Hawthorne brand.

  Just found reference on another forum to Hawthorne ammo, guy said he had a box of .22 LR & it said "sold exclusively by Montgomery Ward".

  Oops. Penneys and Wards were on opposite ends of the mall in our town. I guess I got the names confused.
