7.62x39 04 308
Gents---need some advice.
First of all I'm in the Komunist Republik of Kalifornia so options are limited.
I want to purchase another AR platform and was looking at a 762x39 for ammo price purposes but have heard and read bad reviews on that platform. Next option is the ar10---ammo cost more but accuracy is far better from what I hear----is this true? Can I get an accurate 762x39 in an ar platform? Want this for pig hunting, long range and easy to find ammo. please chime in

Not sure of the various model designations, but generally the reason for poor accuracy with the 7.62x39 is mis-matched throat/bore diameter to bullet. 0 -
If I'm seeing it correctly, most of the AR makers have stopped making the AR in 7.62x39. I know a couple of LE departments who tried it and dumped it due to magazine/reliability problems. If you're not totally wedded to an AR platform but want a reliable, military type semi-auto in 7.62x39, you might consider the Arsenal Saiga SGL series. After dumping my first AK for lousy accuracy, I spent the extra (around $800) for an SGL-21 and it groups like a good AR at 100 yards. I'm getting 2 inch groups out of mine with a 4x scope. Just another idea to consider. 0 -
"Long range and easy to find ammo" = AR 10, IMHO.
Not likely your going to get a off the shelf AR in 7.62 X 39, that has long range potential. Unless you spring for quality barrel and ammo.0 -
What about an SKS rifle, 7.62x39mm, fixed 10 round magazine, longer barrel, attached folding bayonet, no pistol grip.
The SKS rifle is also considered to be generally more accurate than the AK and shouldn't cause the anti-constitutionalists in jack booted thug kalifornya to throw their little lispy hissy fit either..

Damnit----All Ya'll just keep pushing me down that 2k purchase. OK----an AR plateform it is. Once an outlaw always an outlaw. Going for the optics and a couple of cases of ammo. Some dealer is going to love me----my sphincter is already starting to hurt!!!!
Off to the Cordova shooting Center tomorrow
